The person adrift
in a small boat 
is not alone
- just different
to all the life teeming
in that greatest
of salty deserts ...
the sea.

The friendless one,
the isolated,
is not alone
- just different
to all the 'life' mouldering
in that greatest
of spiritual deserts ...
the city.
